Multivers is accounting and ERP software for small and medium-sized businesses, known as Unit4 Multivers until 2021 and part of Exact since 2020. Many Dutch companies run their finances, orders and stock in it, online or on their own server. If you also sell through a webshop or use your own software, you want orders, invoices and payments to reach Multivers automatically instead of someone retyping them. We build those integrations through the Multivers WebAPI.
What we connect to Multivers
- Orders and invoices from your webshop: sales from Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce or bol as sales orders or invoices in Multivers, with the right VAT codes and general ledger accounts.
- Customers and products: new customers created or matched to an existing debtor, and product data kept the same in Multivers and your sales channels.
- Payments: payouts from Mollie or Stripe matched against open invoices, so the bank reconciles.
- Stock: stock levels from Multivers back to the webshop, so you never sell more than you have.
- Your own software: journal entries, purchasing or project data from your own application, without exports and imports.
How the Multivers WebAPI works
Multivers has a REST API, the WebAPI, that exchanges data in JSON or XML. Every call includes the code of the administration you work in, so one integration can handle several administrations.
- Sign-in with OAuth 2.0: with Multivers Online, a user grants the integration access once. The integration then receives an access token that is valid for two hours and refreshes it itself, so nobody has to log in again.
- Registration with Exact: an integration is registered in the API portal and then activated by Exact. That can take several business days; we build it into the plan.
- Testing without risk: there is a test environment, so we test the integration fully before a single entry reaches your real administration.
- Online and on-premise: the WebAPI exists for Multivers Online and for local installations. If Multivers runs on your own server, the integration has to reach that server securely; we arrange that with your IT administrator.
Connecting a webshop to Multivers
The question we get most: how do orders from Magento or Shopify end up in Multivers correctly? Standard connectors exist for some combinations. If your process fits one, that is often the fastest route. Custom work makes sense when you have several channels, deal with different VAT situations (for example sales to customers in Belgium), or need errors to be visible and fixable instead of failing silently.
A good integration prevents duplicate orders after an outage, works per order line so partial shipments and cancellations add up, and shows failed messages with a clear reason. See also API integration services and inventory sync.
Stay on Multivers or move to Exact Online?
Since the Exact acquisition, many Multivers users are considering a move to Exact Online at some point. That doesn't have to block an integration. We build it with a separate layer between your webshop and the accounting system. If you switch later, we only replace the accounting side; the webshop side stays as it is.

Frequently Asked Questions about Multivers Integration
Does Multivers have an API?
Yes. Multivers has a REST API, the WebAPI, with JSON and XML. For Multivers Online, access goes through OAuth 2.0, and an integration has to be activated by Exact first.
Can you connect Magento or Shopify to Multivers?
Yes. Orders, customers, payments and stock move automatically between your webshop and Multivers, with the right VAT codes and ledger accounts. That also works for WooCommerce, bol and other channels at the same time.
Does an integration work with a local Multivers installation?
Yes, the WebAPI also exists for local installations. The integration then has to reach your server securely; we agree how with your IT administrator.
Is Multivers the same as Exact Online?
No. Multivers is a separate product that has belonged to Exact since 2020, but it is different software with its own API. An integration with Multivers doesn't automatically work with Exact Online, or the other way round.
Do we own the source code?
That's possible. Ownership of the source code is set out in the contract, and the code can be fully yours, including documentation and tests.
